  1. Hmmm...not a big fan of the Birds Nest. The level of noise they cause to Frankham House has made many people's lives a misery since new management came in, ripped the place up and turned it into a student music venue. After over 2 years of people complaining to Enforcement and Licensing they now seem to be sticking to their licensing hours, but their punters still cause a racket after closing time on the weekend. Summer's coming, so it remains to be seen whether or not they go back to their old ways of leaving the doors wide open and blasting us with noise. The fact that it drowns out the traffic on Church Street will give you some idea of the volume, and for those of us who work weekends/have kids/like sleep, it's not funny.

  2. I don't know whether it will make a difference, but the management has changed again. And as far as I'm concerned it's good riddance to bad rubbish.

Also, the Eskalators, while actually a fairly loud band, have played there on and off for years, so they're not an unknown quantity. And if anything, sound levels might be lower than they were in the past because of the double doors installed about 6 months ago.

  3. That's true, Marmoset...but there is still the problem of folk standing outside smoking, unaware of how far the sound of their chatter carries...

  4. And, of course, double doors are as good as no doors at all if they're left open....
