A public meeting was held (and very well attended) on Saturday to welcome people to the future site of Deptford Cinema, currently scheduled to open in the autumn. The not-for-profit project has taken on a shop at 39 Deptford Broadway and will be the only dedicated cinema in the borough of Lewisham! The space is big enough to have a 50-seat theatre, a cafe/lounge area, plus darkroom facilities for film processing and workshops.
Deptford Cinema needs volunteers to help get things off the ground and transform the space, so if you love film and want to get involved, get in touch with them. (The two geezers in the photo just happened to be outside while the meeting was going on inside, by the way!)
