Surely there is a glut of unaffordable housing in this area and this is more of the same.
P is right about the size of the box – it needs to lose at least three floors to avoid being the most dominant building in the area, even worse than Creekside Village in its effect. Do you mean St Paul's Church, P?Suenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2129884466436576116.post-74989569782230075612011-08-30T12:59:05.940+01:002011-08-30T12:59:05.940+01:00@anon is there really a severe property shortage i...@anon is there really a severe property shortage in London? I believe there is a shortage of housing for people on low incomes, and in particular those with families, but these new apartments are not going to address this.Deptford Damehttp://deptforddame.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2129884466436576116.post-80814872087035807252011-08-28T19:52:49.577+01:002011-08-28T19:52:49.577+01:00It's simple really - if you need to have a car...It's simple really - if you need to have a car in London then you should not look at buying one of these flats. If you, like me, don't have a car and rely on public transport then it is a great location to consider. It is a fix plot size so I don't see why we should increase the number of parking spaces and cut back on the number homes to be built as there is a severe property shortage already in London!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2129884466436576116.post-52672985414824194392011-08-28T10:41:48.124+01:002011-08-28T10:41:48.124+01:00I've just been through all the 91 pages of the...I've just been through all the 91 pages of the report.

At the time I made VERY plain my concerns about the area behind Idonia Street and the affect on local parking. It has been some time since the consultation, the parking locally has become markedly worse in that time, and I now have to avoid the Douglas Way area on Saturdays.

I feel entirely cheated by the 'consultation' which was nothing of the sort.

You do realise that this giant glass box is going to dominate Deptford? Funny how there is no representation of the local church (C of E) in the drawings... That's because it will be overshadowed and dwarfed by the 'box'.
P.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2129884466436576116.post-41348905611351204242011-08-28T09:59:35.123+01:002011-08-28T09:59:35.123+01:00The long awaited application from Cathedral plc fo...The long awaited application from Cathedral plc for the development attached to the new Deptford station otherwise known as The Deptford Project...featuring a rather massive Richard Rogers building full of luxury flats, accompanied by alterations to the existing St Paul's House to provide low-cost housing...plus a piazza etc...

A massive glass box, dwarfing the church and the entire area. WITH 120 apartments but only 20 parking spaces!!!

It is going to get really really bad round Idonia Street, where hooting matches and arguments are frequent on Saturdays already.

Funny how they ignored my views in the 'survey'.

P.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
